Hello ladies, first of all,
I hope that those of you who have been on vacation had a fantastic time, and I wish those who are about to return a fresh start, ready to tackle this new year.
Every year, I find the same pleasure in preparing the schedules for CLASSES, EVENTS, WORKSHOPS, EVENING SHOWS, and TRAINING SESSIONS TO OBTAIN A TEACHING CERTIFICATE because it gives me the opportunity to reflect on the past season and, at the same time, imagine the one that lies ahead.
A year of experimentation and structuring through a teaching method based on learning the RULES OF IMPROVISATION, which are necessary to master your dance through “musical listening.” Through daily practice and technical work, each student, trainee, and artist will be able to search, develop, explore, organize, and refine their dance, emotions, and mindset, always executing their “IMPROVISATION.” As an Oriental dance teacher, my primary goal is to pass on what I believe is most essential for understanding a reality, particularly in our case, “ORIENTAL DANCE” as an artistic reality. “IMPROVISATION IS AN ART”; one might even consider improvisation as the highest degree of composition, where thought and execution are inseparably intertwined. The dancer’s attitude toward the present moment is the key to understanding improvisation. Prioritize the study of the “rules of improvisation,” an attitude of listening, being present in the moment, and being open to possibilities and surprises, rather than focusing on form, staging, or a compositional process. Oriental Dance is “a bodily expression, not a physical performance”; improvisation is “being present in the moment, not within the moment”; it is a “presentation rather than a representation.”
This year, I will once again have the pleasure of introducing you to my friends, professors, and choreographers, who will enrich your passion for Oriental Dance, as well as my musicians, to offer these moments of communication, exchange, and interaction. “Dance and music are one; it is the very essence of Art.”
I never tire of expressing my pride in all the work accomplished, of acknowledging your efforts, and your willingness to learn.
For all of you who are already taking my classes, I know that these feelings of pleasure and pride are widely shared. I also promise you even more opportunities to surpass yourselves and to transport you to the heart and purity of this ART. Oriental Dance, in general, is experiencing a great deal of enthusiasm from women of all ages and social categories. My Academy is witnessing this enthusiasm, which is why I needed to consider how our classes could be more effective and comfortable for all of you. Welcoming new students, we will continue to cultivate our bodies and senses. My greatest wish is that we continue to work, appreciate, and enjoy ourselves as much as our women’s club expands and always retains the same importance in our hearts.
